The job
See where the session’s option premium actually went without scrolling the raw tape.
What this recipe computes
- Where session option premium went, by name and time.
- The single biggest tickets in that session.
- Composition of the tape as a recap, not a streaming squawk.
What it does not claim
- It is not Unusual Whales–style Discord/audio alerts.
- A large ticket is not automatically an opening whale or a directional bet.
- It does not reconstruct multi-leg spreads into one strategy object.
How to read it
Step 1
Run the tape recipe
Open Daily Option Flow in Cookbooks for the latest completed session.
Step 2
Note timing and size
Ask when premium hit and which tickets dominated. Size without context is still noise.
Step 3
Inspect on Option Trades
Handoff a contract or symbol into the live or historical tape when you need side, DTE, and Vol/OI.
Frequently asked questions
- Is this the live Option Trades feed?
- No. Option Trades is the workbench tape. This recipe is a session report of where premium went. The CTA opens the Cookbook, not /app/option-trades.
- Can I use it as trade alerts?
- No. It recaps a session. It does not push Power Alerts or claim a win rate on copied prints.
Related glossary
- Option flowOption flow is the time-and-sales stream of options prints: contract, size, premium, and inferred aggressor side.
- Unusual options activity (UOA)UOA flags contracts or underlyings trading far above recent norms in volume, size, or premium. It is an attention screen, not a directional signal.
- Options block tradeAn options block is a large single print, or same-second aggregate, sized well above typical retail clips.
- Aggressor side (bid / ask)Aggressor side estimates who crossed the spread: prints at or above the ask often look like aggressive buying; at or below the bid, aggressive selling. Mid is ambiguous.
Related personas
- Options Flow for Day TradersDay traders need speed with a filter: see what is printing now, rank what is unusual, then validate structure before risking capital. TradingFlow is built for that same-session loop.
- Real-Time Option Flow for ScalpersScalping with options flow is attention management. KPI cards and tight filters shrink the tape to tradable bursts; structure is a quick invalidation check, not a multi-hour thesis.
